Desi Musings

I have been reading a book written by Shobha De regarding the Indian or the Desi style of life and the comparison of this style with the International trends .Reading her book I felt good about the Indian culture and tradition and the way of her writing style was indeed nice.

When the bhel puri is the yummiest one you can get on a road side dhaba or a chat center and when living in a city like Bangalore in the midst of beggars, rag pickers and lepers make the India what we call a poor country!!!.There is always a jive in which we live in a city so poor with different top class models of cars flying on the dirty and broken roads here….

The Indian passport is always treated as a third class one in the International airports and the way they look at you and treat you when you have a Desi color is almost pathetic. The cows, goats and dogs enjoying the freedom on the roads so stinking is awesome I should say  :( ! And the multi colored buses picking up the people from every stop, population is high you must note that! The malls and the fruit stalls and the road side shops are so much melted under my skin that I love to take the roads and go for a walk in the “Busy” city .My mind is wavering on the shops with nice clothes and eatables so lovely and yummy.

Common sites are the beggars who come out at the red signal stops begging for the money and they have a skelt and lean body with ribs out and empty stomach.Dont feel that they are the beggars of the olden times, they may be the richest one making out money there!...Can’t trust India where the rape victims are high in number now and violence much more.

Still there is something in it to watch out in India…

The Taj Mahal which is among the Seven Wonders of the World is still in India and to reach there you need to catch trains and the biggest palaces, forts and monuments reside in India. The Fatehpur Sikri is the wonder city, the qutab minar and other wonders including the temples and mosques are much of a sight here. Dirty and unhygienic toilets are also wonders of India only.

Still there is something in it and I love to be in India and be known as an Indian because of the vast heritage it possesses and the cultural diversities it has that one may never find in any other country. The dance forms, the varieties of lingual differences, the Bollywood masala movies, the Indian dishes and vast differences between the east and the west residents, the Indian chocolate skin race, the multiple differences in the Vedic texts and scriptures, the ayurveda, reiki and yoga making us smart everywhere and the yogis of the Himalayas which is yet a wonder for the foreigners who come here as tourists.

Still there is something in it and I might  have missed out something here….

I love India and its heritage…

  1. Nice one !! :)
We are born and brought up in INDIA and even though we sometimes curse for the facilities available and that are not we still are satisfied with what we have .
it always pricks your heart though when someone not from our country sees only one facet and generalises our entire country condition and people.
Regardless of whatever people say we will still remain TRULY INDIAN @ HEART and I am proud of that !!
